Monster Casino’s Guide To Aces And Eights Poker Online

Aces and Eights, aka Dead Man’s Hand came into existence during the later part of the 1800s. The game was apparently derived from the popular story of Wild Bill Hickok who happened to be a famous lawman, gunfighter and gambler dying while playing a hand of Poker. According to the story, Hickok was playing Poker with his back to the main door when he was shot unaware and killed by a nobody called Jack McCall. At the time of his death, he was said to be holding what came to be known as the Dead Man’s Hand – a pair of Aces and 8s. As for the kicker, it is currently unknown, but most surmise it to be either a Jack or Queen of Diamonds.

  1. 1. For optimum results, players  resolutely forbid from drawing more cards when they have any one of the hands listed below:

    • Royal Flush
    • Straight Flush
    • Straight
    • Full House
    • Flush
  2. 2. Players can draw an extra card when they have the hands listed below:

    • Four cards to a Royal Flush
    • Four cards open end Straight
    • Four cards for a Straight Flush
    • Four of a Kind
    • Two Pair
    • Four cards Straight with a minimum of 3 high cards
    • Four card Flush
  3. 3. Players can draw a couple of cards when they have the hands listed below:

    • Three of a Kind
    • Three cards to a Straight Flush
    • Three cards to a Straight with 3 high cards
    • Three cards to a Royal Flush
  4. 4. Players can draw a trio of cards when they are in possession of the following hands:

    • A Pair
    • A couple of high cards
    • 2 cards to a Royal Flush

Should players be in possession of a single high card, they can draw 4 new cards, as it is better for them to draw the new cards and keep a hold of the high card. On the other hand, if a player holds a couple of high cards, the better option would be to keep them and aim at drawing a pair on either one or both. In case the players are unable to form any of the hands listed above, they are advised to throw away their 5 cards and draw 5 new ones.

In this version of Video Poker, high cards refer to those cards that are Jack or higher. The low cards, on the other hand, are those cards that rank below a Jack in value.

Aces and Eights is a simple, fun and rewarding game. It is an excellent fit for folks who want to spice up their Video Poker experience.
